Love the Reckless Beat band. I purchased and read the individual books and highly recommend grabbing as a box set for any rocker romance fans.1 – Blind Attraction: Completely unexpected. I knew going in that this was a rock star romance but I had no idea how the title really fit the story. Alana is visiting her friend Kate in Richmond. Alana is an interesting character, she has been raised in an all-woman environment by a mother that basically fears men. She is spreading her wings and wants to branch out on her own. Kate takes her to a concert for Reckless Beat and Alana catches the eye of Mitchell, the lead guitar player. Mitchell is captivated by the woman up front that doesn’t seem all caught up in the ‘groupie’ chaos. There is something different and he wants to know more. As they meet up after the concert, something happens putting Alana in a scary and dependent situation. Mitchell steps up to take care of her, he can’t seem to walk away from her. I loved Alana’s journey, she is truly a butterfly trying to find her wings as she breaks away from the world her mother has sheltered her in. The incident also puts her in a situation where she needs to trust men, something that goes against everything her mother has taught her. It’s wonderful watching her come into her own and find where she wants to be I this world. Now Mitchell is frustrating. He is attracted to Alana but in typical guy fashion feels it’s better to push her away when he goes back on tour. When he realizes his mistake, will he be too late? At the same time, we get introduced to the other band members and the drama that surrounds the world they live in being on the road. I’m excited to read each member’s story knowing that they all have demons to uncover.2 – Passionate Addiction: Blake was a mystery for me. Following the Reckless Beat journey, I knew that he stayed away from alcohol but never understood why. We finally learn about Blake’s demons along with all of his insecurities. His savior is Gabi, a person he started chatting with years ago who helped him through his darkest moments. Blake surprises Gabi and they finally meet in person after maintaining a 4-year friendship via text, chat and phone calls. Gabi is shocked to see Blake while at the same time being consumed by her feelings for him. This is a fabulous journey for two incredible friends that have felt so much more for years. When they finally come together, will they embrace their true feelings? Will secrets from their pasts tear them apart? Or will their own insecurities keep them apart? Another exciting rock star romance that swept me away into their exciting world hoping for love to find a way.2.5 – Reckless Weekend: Oh my! Yes, Reckless Beat has invaded Vegas and what a crazy ride it is. Alana is stressing about the wedding plans, wanting everything to be perfect, so Mitchell wants her to relax in Vegas which sparks a contest between the men and women. A creative “hunt” where activities have to be performed and well, these are pretty hilarious as their wild night progresses. During all the chaos we get to learn more about all the band members along the way as we progress to Mitch and Alana’s big day. This one had me laughing out loud at the bands antics and crying at the emotional journey for both Alana and Gabi. Loving this amazing cast of characters.3 – Undesired Lust: Wow! Mason and Sidney’s story surprised me to the very end. This couple found a connection from the very beginning but Mason allowed his crazy rock star status to dominate his world and he didn’t really work for a relationship with Sidney. When one crazy night with Mason, Sean and Sidney goes viral, Sidney’s world is turned upside down. I was shocked at how much she lost in this one moment and admired her resiliency though she never felt like she was very strong. To me she was, she kept putting one foot forward no matter how hurt and devastated she truly was. On the verge of losing everything, she agrees to work with Mason to write songs for Reckless Beat’s next album, seeing no other work opportunities. The challenge is that she has always loved Mason but he crushed her, how does she keep these emotions in check? Mason has distanced himself after the scandal, he was blown away that everyone assumed he did it. He has lost his muse and doesn’t want to write anymore songs. When Sidney comes back into his universe, his muse returns. Will he finally admit that he does love her? Then outside forces threaten Sidney. Will this be the nail in the coffin that keeps them apart? Or will these two hurt souls find a way to overcome all the challenges and embrace love? I never knew what to expect next. I kind of hated Mason going into this book but boy, was I wrong. There is so much more going on with him and I appreciated taking this journey to peel back all of his layers.

The good: This book contains beautiful photos of a few recipes and a number of the recipes seem very tasty and relatively easy to prepare. The layout is a little unusual with the recipe instructions before the list ingredients. I actually found this refreshing as it encourages you to read the instructions before grabbing ingredients and diving into the recipe.The exercises in the second half of the book are described well and are easy to do at home without additional equipment. I really appreciate this, as you can get started right away. Each exercise has a photo to accompany the explanation. The exercises are nothing revolutionary but it's kind of nice to have an exercise plan to follow and the 30-day program seems well-balanced with regard to lower-body exercises one day and upper body the next day.The bad: Some recipes call for ingredients which are only used once and which may be difficult to obtain (fresh passion fruit, rice flour, young barley). The recipes also refer to ingredients like "Maracuya" and "oat flakes" which, while it's not difficult to do a web search and find out what those ingredients are, it would have been nice to have the alternate names (passion fruit, rolled oats) in the recipe itself.Given that it's labelled as a 30 day weight loss challenge, I would have appreciated an organized shopping list for each week, much like there's an exercise plan for each week.Most troubling, there are quite a number of editing errors in the book, mostly of a grammatical nature, although at least one recipe has the wrong title (the gluten free pancakes). There's also a slight unnatural-sounding style in the writing which makes seem as if it were poorly translated from another language.Overall it's probably worth the small amount of money you'd pay to have some new whole-foods based recipe ideas and a great selection of body-weight exercises, but I don't think I'll be making much use of this book past my initial reading of it.I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

The 30 Day Whole Food Weight Loss Challenge by Katie BanksBook starts out with offer of a free Ketogenic diet cookbook. Table of contents that are broken up into day of meals for 30 days and also warm up exercises.Introduction talks about not only food but exercise as well.Each days meals are summarized at the start of the day so you know what to expect. One color photo showing one of the meals is included.Each recipe starts with a title, directions and list of ingredients that are confusing as some are in American and some in Metric measurements.You should be able to substitute for your healtiher dietary needs: low sodium, low fat, low sugar products.There is NO nutritional information. Does include prep time and servings and calories.Each exercise comes with prep explanations and how to do the exercise and tips so you will succeed along with a diagram of a person doing it.

I just bought this and the whole concept is very intriguing. It doesn’t just tell me what I should eat, it gives me thirty days of three meals a day, all planned out with recipes to boot. It shows you the right way to get healthy. I’m having some trouble figuring out the measurements, but that’s my only complaint. One trip to the grocery and I’m ready to start. Love it. I’m gladly giving this review.

Katie has put together a great book. She is encouraging and has a friendly tone. Every day has three recipes to help you learn to cook healthy and whole food. I had two stumbling points:1. This book is laid out for physical print, as the daily exercises are in the back of the book, not integrated with an appendix for directions.2. The recipes were new to me, so I spent time wondering where I would find certain ingredients.I think this book is written for someone who is already on the diet and bored with their food options, ready to learn new recipes.

This was a nice book with everything in one place. Thirty days of recipes (breakfast, lunch, dinner). The recipes use fairly common items so you don't have to search all over to find an ingredient. They're also easy and quick to make...you don't have to be a chef, good for inexperienced cooks. Nice bonus in the back of the book are do at home exercises that require minimal equipment.The one suggestion I'd make is there should be a section of healthy snacks in case you need something to carry you over to the next meal.

I really like this book and how it lays out each day's meals. Photos are always nice in a cookbook. I like to see if my meal looks anything near what it's supposed to look like. The only thing I wasn't crazy about, and it's my complaint about a lot of meal plans, is there is not accounting for leftovers. I work. I do not have the time, nor the energy to cook every single evening after I get home from work. I have to make each day's breakfast, lunch and dinners. Other than that, the food is delish, and the recipes are easy enough to follow.Thanks Katie!

This book is an easy way to plan a month worth of meals. They meals looked easy and fun to prepare and eat. I would recommend this book if someone wanted to transition to healthy eating and they weren't on the Whole30 program. They recipes are not Whole30 compliant but, the book is an easy way to start eating healthier. I had trouble with the print on some of the exercises pages. I couldn't read them because they would not change front size on my kindle. Most of the book I could change the size of the font and could read the book fine but, the exercises pages outlined for each week were such tiny print, they were unreadable. I also found some errors in the book that I believe should have been caught when it was proofread. All in all, I think it is a very easy book to read and use and it would make eating healthy much easier than trying to figure it out on your own. The recipes are all right there.
