Gangnam has become a name that everyone knows around the world but probably don't know what the word means.Discover here?Overall I can say If you are planning to go to Seoul, This book give the fastest and easiest way to get to any destination through 100 Travel Tips!! The tips are quite good and the book is thorough. I wasn't really sure that Seoul is the best city to visit in Asia, but the author gives some good tips on things to do if do happen to find yourself there. Personally, I would recommend Hong Kong, Bangkok, or Kuala Lumpur way over Seoul, but I’ve spent extensive time in the Korean capital city (and I'm just not that thrilled with it any more). With that said, I do think the book gives you a really good array of things to do. The tips provided are quite valuable, especially because Seoul and all of South Korea can be pretty impenetrable for a non-Korean-speaking traveler. If you're planning a trip to Seoul, download this book and use it as a reference. It will be helpful.

Basically, what you are getting with this book is a collection of places you could visit and things you can do. It is pretty basic info that's all compiled into one place with all you need to know such as prices and phone numbers. I think the greatest advantages it provides are affordability and convenience.Recently, I adjusted this review from 3 stars to 5 stars. In my previous review, I complained about some convenience issues regarding the book's format and the author responded very swiftly and sincerely to implement those changes. Because of the improved format (the convenient table of contents) and quick response - I decided to bump it to 5 stars. This book provides a sincere effort to help travelers in Korea, and given the price - it's clear the author's main concern is helping travelers rather than making bank.Pros:-The price is fantastic. There's just no competition in that area.-The information provided is pretty well organized and is just enough.-Having this information available without having to use the internet is convenient.-Conveniently formatted with the Table of Contents so you can browse and access the information easily.Cons:- I don't think the title is accurate. These aren't really tips... but places you can go and things you can do.- Perhaps there could be more details about the significance of the places listedFinal Comments:If you're coming to Seoul, this could be very useful and is definitely the best bang for your buck. Can't really go wrong with the price - and having this information on hand and offline while visiting will be beneficial.

I am surprised at the scarce resources available concerning a trip to Seoul. I especially enjoy this author's first hand descriptions and personal recommendations. The topics are clearly presented without getting bogged down in too much information. I especially appreciate the tips on interacting with the Korean people. Very friendly and encouraging read.

I have some Korean friends who talk all the time about traveling to Seoul and what a great experience it is...this book is great to have on hand for when you do make that trek.I'm excited to check it out and I like the bevy of tips provided in this book for a great price on everything from nightlife (booze!..?) to cultural attractions...Great handbook for when I bring my Kindle with me to Seoul next year hopefully :)

I enjoyed this book and appreciated the insights gained by Worden's extensive experience living in South Korea. Even though I had visited Seoul many times, I still found some hidden gems through this book. If you're heading to Seoul, pick this up!

Although I am visiting a friend in Seoul who is more than happy to assist me, this book allowed me to learn some pertinent Do's and Don't's within the culture. In addition. if was excellent at helping me prioritize the places I wanted to visit.

Easy to read and has good tips. However, I did not appreciate the author's occasional political editorials, as an American of Korean descent, whose brave ancestors (freedom fighters) were directly tortured and killed by their enemies. That is why I give it 4 stars.

Like Metro itself, this book is awe inspiring in its scope and remarkable in its detail. The thesis is maintained throughout. The maps are excellent for those, like myself, without a firm grasp of the region's geography. The chapters are clear and focused. It took me a year of bus rides to work though the book, and found myself swept along. I have to admit to being surprised (though not incredulous as the explanation is as clear as any book I have encountered) several times. It was an excellent page-turner throughout... the freeways planed to devour communities, the bridge, the political intransigence, the buses, the plans, and the people. I was lucky enough to fly across the country to visit the District as a kid. The museums and monuments blended in my young imagine with Metro itself as a vision of America set in stone (since I didn't know it was concrete). What I did not know then is that this interaction of Americans in the commons was created as carefully, and painfully, as any monument. Although written before the Tysons Corner extension on the Silver Line, the book contrasts the development of Tysons Corner with Rosslyn-Ballston expertly.

To a third generation Washingtonian, this book got everything right and in a most readable way.Local and national, history at its best. A book about building a subway usually would not be considered a page turner. This one briskly moves along, better than Metro in its current state of disrepair. The author really gets the zeitgeist of each decade, especially the 1950s and early 60s. As a journalist who started his career at the old Evening Star, it is dismaying to read how the Star and Post both enthusiastically lined up behind plans, which fortunately did not come to fruition, to turn this city into a mass of concrete and highways.

This is a college professor's history of the construction of the DC Metro system, so it might have been stuffy.Instead, it is very readable, and many aspects of how the Nation changed culturally show up in the book. It covers the design of the system, and the construction challenges, but perhaps more interestingly it covers the cultural and political history of putting the system in place...something I doubt could be initiated today. The place of people of color, people with disabilities, people from economically disadvantaged areas, and women each figure prominently in the story, as does the continuing battle between the road and mass transit for government funding and rights-of-way.

As a DC Metro resident, I enjoyed reading how the Metro became what it is today. Interesting to see how the city developed around the different stations.

This book should be mandatory reading for all the engineering studies. The detail of the politics, the players and the schedule to implement a mega project.

During the earliest stages of building this line, I actually lived in the Suburban Virginia area, and while very interested in the construction, I saw very little, except test borings on Wisconsin avenue, as I had to work. Now, having read this book, I know mkuch more about the process, and in 1977 we actually rode on the downtown portion. As expected, there were many, many roadblocks to construction, thrown up by local politicos, just plain mean spirited people who had the power to do so. This book provides an interesting overview of the behind the scenes action in trying to build a subway system, only to be constantly delayed, and to see costs skyrocket as the years went by.Recommended reading for those who not only are interested in the actual construction, but also those who want to know more about the dysfunction that often attends the hyper-political atmosphere of nearly anything done in Washington, DC

I am an engineer currently working for WMATA. This book does a great job explaining the roles of the various agencies involved in the planning of metro and the formation of WMATA. It properly puts into perspective how difficult a political problem it was to plan and construct the system in the face of highway proposals, protests from other agencies and locals, and the inherent problem within tri-jurisdictional control.If you live in DC and are genuinely interested in public transit, read this.

The author obviously spent a great deal of time doing research in preparation for writing this volume. It not only covers the history of the capitol's subway system, but the social and economic factors leading up to its construction. A very throught provoking history of a unique transportation system.

I purchased this for my fiance to motivate him to track his bills and pay them on time. It has (somewhat) worked. The pages are divided monthly but offer a HUGE number of spaces for different bills. We only use about one third of the page per month. It's a good quality book that has made it a breeze to track payments and monitor changes in spending over time. The only change I'd make would be to have maybe two months per page, with half the number of lines available per month to reduce wasted space and paper.

Some really, fundamentally good python in this book. It's about really thinking out of the box with python, and as a learning tool, it's fun, as a reference, it's on my shelf. The author knows his OSINT really well, and this is a part of the field, so it is also valuable for those in the field, and those who are curious about the dynamics of network programming, not a "how to commit a felony" book. Sure, an evil guy could make a payload, but really?The book was a great learning tool and a lot of fun in exploring python and security issues in general.

Good book filled with tons of useful info. My only issue is that a lot of the code does not work. I've spent a lot of time making tweaks to get these applications to work correctly. That could just be to the way code behaves in diverse environments, but it was pretty frustrating. Prepare to learn a lot, but most of the learning will come from going over and over the code to fix it.

I've tried several habit trackers over the past several years. This one is definitely my favorite. It's the only one I've had an easy time keeping up-to-date. I'd even go so far as to say that I enjoy using it which is a feeling I never experienced with other habit trackers. I just bought a few more in case they stop making them.

I’ve read many books and loved many books, but A Gentleman In Moscow by Amor Towles may have just become my favorite.A Gentleman in Moscow is the 30-year saga of the Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov, who is placed under house arrest inside the Metropol Hotel in Moscow in 1922 when the Bolsheviks spare him from death or Siberia because of his 1913 revolutionary poem written in university. The relationships he forms with staff and guests, his handling of twists of fate, his moral rectitude and his perseverance to go on in the face of his lifelong imprisonment for being a Former Person make for a compelling tale, told beautifully by Towles. It is not overwritten, and provides just enough historical contexts without being burdensome. And Towles doesn’t overdo the use of the Russian diminutive, which I’ve found in Russian classics to be crazy making and require a scorecard. Towles gives the reader just enough background of his characters. We know them but still wonder; he’s left room for the reader. The story unfolds so wonderfully that I don’t want to give away more of the plot.I literally sat and stared into space for an hour after I finished A Gentleman In Moscow, contemplating it and wishing it hadn’t ended.I may just have to re-read it.

My review is about the Kindle version of this book. I read and enjoyed it--didn't love it--but it wasn't until I went to my book group to talk about it that I realized that a great deal of important material has been omitted from the Kindle version. there are additions, footnotes, introductions, and such, that give relevant Russian history, in the printed text, and they are central to understanding the book. They are absent from the Kindle version. Thus, as I read it, we had only the Count's view of life, and it was like reading a book by the 1% for the 1% with very little awareness of the millions of Russians starving, imprisoned, and dying outside of the posh Moscow hotel. The hard copy of the book, which I had not seen, has lots of authorial intervention that apparently offer commentary on life outside of the hotel and therefore profoundly affect a reader's understanding of the book. For shame to the electronic producers--If I were Towles I'd be furious.

I had such an emotionally fulfilled feeling at the end of this novel that when I finished the last page, I closed the book, sat back, sighed deeply, and thought, "well, what now? where do I go from here? how do I move on?"...book hangover.It seems convoluted to start a review with the ending of a book, but this novel is actually a rather long tale, spanning 30+ years, so before I get into the journey, allow me this one break with decorum. The ending. Oh, this ending. Whenever anyone asks me which book ending I love the most, I will usually answer Water for Elephants, because it has one of the most satisfying endings I have ever read. And until now no other novel has come close to changing my answer. But A Gentleman in Moscow, if not completely upsetting Sara Gruen's work, at least pulls level with it, because it is such a satisfying end to this novel, and I'll say no more than that for fear of ruining the experience for anyone else.Who hasn't had the thought, at some point, that it would be nice to live in a hotel? Perhaps we don't imagine that it will be under house arrest and 1922 in Moscow, but it's a luxurious idea to entertain. It feels like such a universal fantasy that, despite the fact that we are not (probably) an aristocrat, a connoisseur of multiple tastes, exceedingly cultured, and currently exiled within our own country, we somehow connect with Count Rostov immediately. Here is a man from a by-gone era and yet he wins us over completely with his wit and charm from the very first page.This is all due completely to the beautiful writing of the author, of course. Amor Towles caught my attention with his first book Rules of Civility (which I also highly recommend), a book that is completely opposite to this one in nearly every way, except the writing. Towles writes with such sophistication and beauty in every carefully chosen word that it manages to feel effortless. It's captivating.A Gentleman in Moscow is rich with detail. The first half of the book creates a thorough and gorgeous visual of the hotel and it's occupants. While it may seem a bit exhaustive, it's entirely necessary. The reader is being immersed so fully into this setting that we feel just as the Count feels in his many years in the Metropol. And nothing is without purpose. Each moment and person is leading somewhere and the second half of the book is a revelation of a life well lived.I would be remiss if I didn't mention the humor and philosophical wisdom running throughout this novel. At times it's witty and funny in that perfectly refined way, and in the next moment it's incredibly astute and insightful. I could quote this book for days. As I was reading I would reach for my phone to snap a picture of passage that I didn't want to forget. This happened often. As intelligent as it is entertaining, this book has it all.I could ramble on about the the delightful and stunning setting of this book as well as the cast of characters that weave in and out and in again, but it might actually be overkill. By this point I'm sure you know that I recommend this book for multiple reasons. So it seems only right that you should discover the hotel and the people in it for yourself without me spoiling a thing.A Gentleman in Moscow is wonderful from beginning to end. It's the type of book that I know I will reread because I'm not ready to let it go. I don't want to say goodbye to the world and people that Towles has created, so I won't. I'll revisit often and always with a perfectly paired glass of wine in my hand, as Count Rostov would approve.

I did finish the book at the request of a friend. But I was surprised by all the positive reviews. I think Annalisa Quinn’s review in NPR sums it up best: “A Gentleman in Moscow is like a quipping, suavely charming dinner companion that you are also a little relieved to escape at the end of the meal.”As literature, I found plot too predictable and the characters not believable.Despite a setting steeped in history, the story line and characters seems to be untouched by the atrocities that happened all around the country and the world, and out of touch with the realities around them. It paints communism as silly instead of diabolical, and the nobility as innocent victims instead of feckless. The author may not have intended to write historical fiction, but many reviewers comment about how much they learned about Russian history. This is unfortunate. If you’re intrigued about life in Russia under Stalin, please consider Darkness at Noon by Arthur Koestler.In addition to historical misrepresentations, there are multiple scientific ones as well. For example, on page 354, the Count describes the temperature of the water in the ice bucket as 50 degrees. Let’s assume Fahrenheit. If the bucket contained any ice at all, the temperature could not have been more than 32 degrees.People read books for many reasons. I categorize books I’ve read as the following:1 - Books that change my life2 - Books from which I learned something3 - Books that entertain me4 - Books that wasted my time because they did too little of 1, 2, or 3 for the time investedI don’t think this a bad book, but for myself personally, I would rate this book a 4. There are too many good books out there and too precious little time.

I read this today to the first to third grade kids in my stamp club. The ages are about six to ten years old. The kids enjoyed this book and it was an easy read. The pages are large and I was able to easily read this to a group of 8 kids without any moving around or complaints that the kids couldn't see well. The book covered the basic jobs of the mail carrier (of course) and a few extra little pointers about the mail service, in general, in the back. I could the simple 1-2 sentences a page made reading and asking questions from the kids easy. The pictures gave just as much info as the words did. For example, there was an image of the postal carrier delivering mail from the right side of the truck - "the mail carrier drives on the same side as the curb" This one sentence and photo sparked a 5 minute conversation about safety, why the mail company doesn't pay for two drivers, the increased cost of stamps for extra labor, etc. The photo of the mail carrier on the beack had the kids laughing and asking about mail carriers on islands in in Alaska.I'm glad we picked this book up. The kids really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this for the PreK-3 group.

this book is so cool the pictures take up whole pagesmy baby loves this book. we play with the melissa and doug mail box right after or during reading time. I adore this book and it brings the concept and sense of community workers and people working together.you learn the different job of mailmen, their routes, what side the steering wheel is on and why and about safety around mail trucks.it'a a good book especially if a parent or neighbor is a mailmen or anyone the child(s) know.i hope you get to view the inside. the description and summary ON THE BOOK cover is very loose and gives it no justice.

Used this for a Pre-K lesson over Community Helpers. Talks about addressing mail & how the mail is sent & received. Perfect book for introducing & teaching young children about Mail Carriers.

My 4 year old is in a service trucks phase. Mail trucks, garbage trucks, UPS and Fedex. He had to have this! A bit thin for the price but he loves it. The graphics are very plain though. Had I seen the inside prior to purchase, I wouldn't have gotten it.

Most small children love interesting cars and trucks, and mail trucks are definitely on that list. If your little one is looking to learn more about mail trucks and how the mail is delivered, "Delivering the Mail" is a great book. It has simple illustrations that draw kids in, and it is written using clear words and language that younger children will be able to understand.

My son loved learning about where mail comes from. I bought it for him for the holidays in conjunction with the Melissa and Doug mailbox set! A nice little educational gift set.

I purchased this book for my granddaughter. She has been real interested in the mail system by wanted to always check the mail. She received another gift from a relative that is a Mailbox - outgoing and incoming. This book was a perfect complement. The illustrations are very nice and the story line quite cute. Package came in as stated when I ordered it and packaging was very good. I always worry about having soft cover books shipped to me (Im picky about bent covers) - but it was perfect. I would recommend this.

This was a gift for our special needs nephew. It was the perfect book for him! He is obsessed with the letter carrier and the mail truck. Although a board book might have been a better choice.
