Just to give an example, she notes in her book that many countries have something similar to Constitution or Bill of Rights that intends to uphold liberty and democracy, but many fail to enforce it nearly as well as United States, a country that enshrines "the right of its unelected Supreme Court to use the Bill of Rights to declare illegal the actions of the democratically elected legislature or executive". The book does not attempt to give a theory about how institutions influence development or how institutions itself evolve, but it shows that these are very interesting and potentially very important questions to answer.For someone out of the legal profession, this book also provides the very necessary basic knowledge in balanced width and depth. I love Sandra Day. I love the simple language and easy way she eases the non-lawyer into her love of the Constitution and the beauty of the structure of our law. I love her voice. She does a wonderful job of narrating her own book. She's relaxing to listen to and she presents the material as if she were reading to a group of elementary school students. Oddly, this doesn't feel at all condescending. In fact, she presents her material and her remarkably high position with shock and awe and such humility that doesn't seem to be talking down to anyone. She simply shares with the listener her love of the law and her admiration for the Constitution and the great Justices that came before her and those that she worked with.This is wonderful book for a non-lawyer.

I found Justice O'Connor's views on the law, the constitution, legal and Supreme Court history and the evolution of civil and women's rights to be entertaining, enlightening and engaging. The writing style is easy to read, the insights thought provoking, and the book a great read for anyone interested in the Supreme Court.

The Majesty of the Law is a book that brings out the thinking of the first women Justice of the Supreme Court but also it is a clear description of "gender discrimination". Even this distinguished lawyer was offered just secretary jobs once she applied to practice her profession. Fortunately, women are imposing themselves in the juridical world which men monopolized for so long. Women have shown that they are as good and maybe even better than the males in our juridical system. O'Connor describes the American Juridical system without omitting its weakenesses and at the same time, stating its capability of being just. She did not bring up decisions such as the horrible idea that a corporation is a person. Never -the-less, after reading it, I have faith in the future of the American Supreme Court. She is missed quite appropriately to temeper the conservative judges as I hope Sotomayor shall do.Congratulations. .

This is a wondeul book. It should be required reading in all our law schools. It should also be read by anyone at all interested in learning about the importance of the rule of law and an independent judiciary in a free and democratic society. Justice O'Connor was one of our finest Supreme Court Justices whose no-nonsense common sense cut through ideological differences to deliver simple fairness and justice. This book demonstrates that she always saw the bigger picture, the importance of the law in protecting individual freedom in even the most difficult times.

Each chapter stands on it's own as an applause to her contributions to this country. Anyone who wants to learn why she refers to it as "The Majesty of the Law" should read this book.

A disappointment. Hoped to get an inside view of " behind the scenes" relationships of the SC Justices. Also wanted more description of personal conflicts affecting decisions....instead...it focused mostly on "law"... Quite a vanilla flavored is closure. Well written but not interesting.

I love John Pontius. This is a man who knows what he is talking about. Many people have read Visions of Glory, which is worth reading. But what really matters is obtaining your own relationship with Christ rather than reading about another person's relationship. John's other books, including this one, show the way to do that. The way is shown in the scriptures. John isn't reinventing the gospel, he's just helping us see the fulness of it that many of us have been missing. Read this book, and then dive into the scriptures. Pray like your soul depends on it. Come to know Christ.

This book could change your life. I was intrigued and uplifted by Bro John's unblog and it set my life on a different course. I was saddened when he died but was so glad I had the opportunity to get to know him through his blogs. I am now serving a senior mission with my wife in Chile and some credit must go to this inspiring man for listening and believing that miracles do happen and then writing about them. This mission experience has taught me that the things he has said about listening to the Spirit and following the promptings is vital for each of us. I leaned heavily on things I learned in the blogs and in his book, "Following the Light of Christ..." to be able to speak and understand the language and then teach the people here. Finally with most of the 23 month mission completed, I felt that I needed a refresher course on how to move to the next level (and also to keep from falling back one). I downloaded this book and already (same day) read a third of it. So much here is new and just as inspiring as the blogs I read. It is hard to describe the joy and surge of excitement as I read his experiences and look back on my own. He is such an example to me and his writings are so powerful and inspiring. It is hard to put into words the impact his writings have had on my life. I know that this life is a test and I hope that I can endure half as well as he did.

A Great book to read just a few pages out loud and ponder. Even my kids like the stories and my husband wants me to read while driving just a few entries at a time. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. Very inspired and uplifting as he writes his thought and journey towards his returning to heaven.

I am very grateful to Terri for unblogging John's soul through this book. He was a truly special man. After reading this and other books of his, I feel as if his soul was laid our before me. I feel him and love him as if he was my brother, even though I never met him. This book made me mourn his passing in my heart, even though it happened quite a few years ago. He showed me how to draw very close to the Savior and I will definitely be re-reading this book. There is a lot of good in it, but one major message to all that ever want to be a true disciples of The Lord Jesus Christ - flawless obedience, and discipleship of Christ above anything else. If we are determined on this path, the true miracles will happen in our life.I am grateful that the Lord opened the knowledge included in John's books to me. Father has been reshaping my life, since a few months ago. I felt changed and lately decided to consecrate my life to the Lord's service, then I read about this process in John's books. It is amazing to have clarity and understanding why and what is happening to me. "Journey to the veil" is a special book that will bring a lot of hope into your life and will open your understanding to possible events that either already happened, or will soon happen in your life. Keep your eye single to the glory of God, and always obey the promptings of the Holy Ghost, no matter how inconvenient they may seem.

I absolutely love this book! Very inspiring and thought provoking; leading to a bigger desire to hear His voice! My only issue is the printing of every single, even numbered page is of poor quality, which is distracting to the reader. It is very light and when I turn the page I cringe and struggle to read it. However, I love the book so much, I don't want to return it. Hopefully they will have better quality control in the future, especially since I just ordered 3 more copies as presents!

Anyone buying this book just needs to understand that this is a book of many, many entries by the author centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ and how it affected the author. If you buy this book with the understanding that one entry was written at one time and the next one at a different time, and, can explain/talk about different topics, then you won't be disappointed. There are topics and stories written that are easy to understand and digest and other topics that require more thinking and pondering. I enjoyed both approaches because it helped me stretch my mind and desire to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Anyone can find the good/bad in any novel. The reality is that as long as you stay true to you beliefs and find the good in others sharing their testimonies of a certain gospel you will be able to learn and grow from others experiences. Allow the Holy Spirit to testify to you whether it is true or not. Personally I feel he experienced all the things he says he has. Besides who am I to judge him. If it helps me move forward in my life than great! If not than I just move on in search for the next spiritually uplifting book out there! I am grateful to those who have shared with us their experiences. Thanx to the authors!

Reading this book came at a perfect time in my life. I'm going through a hard time. My sister has cancer and is going through chemo but she is not doing well. Reading about John tell what he is going through and the spiritual experiences he is having that is helping him grow spiritually is helping me deal with what is happening to my sister. It is helping me be stronger for her and realize what joy is awaiting for her when she goes through the veil. Thank you John for listening to the Spirit and writing your Unblog. With the bar set high from Depraved, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was NOT disappointed. The action and suspense continues just as smoothly with Delivered I devoured it quickly. Of all the bumps and twists I didn’t see that ending coming! This rollercoaster will have you on the edge of your seat to tears to giggling at Smith’s snarky comments.I love the strong and feisty Gabby so much, not to mention her love for JD! They have such an intense and steamy (like off the charts and better call the fire dept steamy) relationship.All the characters come to life so vividly exposing a little bit of their layers at a time and are still unraveling. I am most definitely looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Smith, Gray and Chase!And spoiler alert 2 epilogues! WTHeckkkk!Well done Eva Charles! I look forward to so much more of this genre from you!

Well, Eva Charles definitely DELIVERED JD to us on a handsome, arrogant silver platter and I for one am not even remotely disappointed. If you haven't read the first book in this duet, Depraved, don't read any further because some of what I may say here would spoil that book for you and you MUST read it to understand fully the dynamics in this story. When we left JD and Gabrielle, their world was completely obliterated as they knew it. There are some definite tragedies that each must contend with. There are many truths that must be revealed and secrets (some serious bombs indeed) that must be released in order for these two to even come CLOSE to being who they are meant to be together. While reading, I wasn't completely sure they had it in them. Seeing the lengths that JD would go through to protect those he loves is an absolutely beautiful thing to see, despite the fact that many don't like the way he goes about it. JD showed his beautiful side and yes, I physically swooned...(you will know when when you get to that part lol). Eva ties up some loose ends for us along with bringing us even more to look forward to his her Charleston, NC world

Holy moly did Eva Charles deliver something absolutely fantastic with Delivered. The range of emotions with Gabrielle has you reaching for the tissues and even new panties at times. She is so strong with everything that is thrown at her. Her bond with JD only gets stronger even when she pushes away. JD is amazing throughout Delivered. I love how he does everything in his power to not only protect Gabrielle but to prove that their love has never gone away. You will be glued to the pages when it comes to this one. Note this is not a stand alone and you must read Depraved first. I really can't wait for more from Eva Charles and Smith's story. If you have read Eva Charles and her sweet side then you really need to read this other side of her. I loved Delivered and you need to one click this one.

A stunning conclusion to the Devil's Duet, Delivered takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that you hope never ends.Book 2 in the Devil's Duet was everything I hoped it would be. Of the two stories, this was the more emotional read for me as there were some situations that were very intense and would test even the best of readers.I fell in love with these characters in Depraved and stalked this author for book two. Her problem now is that I am so in love with other characters that she won't get rid of me until all the stories have been told. And I am talking Gray, Chase, and my favorite Smith!Without getting into too much of this story, I will say that JD and Gabby push each other to the very end of their ropes and it was fabulous. Explosive from beginning to end!Reading time for Delivered was a little over 5 hours. Minus the few times I had to adult, I read this in one sitting.Absolutely loved this book, this series and now this author! So glad I found her!Delivered gets 5 stars from me!

I went through so many emotions while reading this book. I often felt like I was on a roller coaster, and I must admit that I felt a bit drunk when I finished. Everyone in law school should read this book. Too many attorneys these days lack a considerable amount of these skills. Teaches practical approaches to real-world case issues that can't simply be solved with black letter law.

Well laid out guide to basic lawyering skills but could use a bit more depth as to the upsides and downsides of using certain styles or methods. The negotiation section could also benefit from providing more strategies and styles employed by lawyers.

I have been reading: civil law, criminal law, torts, contacts, and constitutional law. The tips are quite good and the book is thorough. I wasn't really sure that Seoul is the best city to visit in Asia, but the author gives some good tips on things to do if do happen to find yourself there. Personally, I would recommend Hong Kong, Bangkok, or Kuala Lumpur way over Seoul, but I’ve spent extensive time in the Korean capital city (and I'm just not that thrilled with it any more). With that said, I do think the book gives you a really good array of things to do. The tips provided are quite valuable, especially because Seoul and all of South Korea can be pretty impenetrable for a non-Korean-speaking traveler. If you're planning a trip to Seoul, download this book and use it as a reference. It will be helpful.

Basically, what you are getting with this book is a collection of places you could visit and things you can do. It is pretty basic info that's all compiled into one place with all you need to know such as prices and phone numbers. I think the greatest advantages it provides are affordability and convenience.Recently, I adjusted this review from 3 stars to 5 stars. In my previous review, I complained about some convenience issues regarding the book's format and the author responded very swiftly and sincerely to implement those changes. Because of the improved format (the convenient table of contents) and quick response - I decided to bump it to 5 stars. This book provides a sincere effort to help travelers in Korea, and given the price - it's clear the author's main concern is helping travelers rather than making bank.Pros:-The price is fantastic. There's just no competition in that area.-The information provided is pretty well organized and is just enough.-Having this information available without having to use the internet is convenient.-Conveniently formatted with the Table of Contents so you can browse and access the information easily.Cons:- I don't think the title is accurate. These aren't really tips... but places you can go and things you can do.- Perhaps there could be more details about the significance of the places listedFinal Comments:If you're coming to Seoul, this could be very useful and is definitely the best bang for your buck. Can't really go wrong with the price - and having this information on hand and offline while visiting will be beneficial.

I am surprised at the scarce resources available concerning a trip to Seoul. I especially enjoy this author's first hand descriptions and personal recommendations. The topics are clearly presented without getting bogged down in too much information. I especially appreciate the tips on interacting with the Korean people. Very friendly and encouraging read.

I have some Korean friends who talk all the time about traveling to Seoul and what a great experience it is...this book is great to have on hand for when you do make that trek.I'm excited to check it out and I like the bevy of tips provided in this book for a great price on everything from nightlife (booze!..?) to cultural attractions...Great handbook for when I bring my Kindle with me to Seoul next year hopefully :)

I enjoyed this book and appreciated the insights gained by Worden's extensive experience living in South Korea. Even though I had visited Seoul many times, I still found some hidden gems through this book. If you're heading to Seoul, pick this up!

Although I am visiting a friend in Seoul who is more than happy to assist me, this book allowed me to learn some pertinent Do's and Don't's within the culture. In addition. if was excellent at helping me prioritize the places I wanted to visit.

Easy to read and has good tips. However, I did not appreciate the author's occasional political editorials, as an American of Korean descent, whose brave ancestors (freedom fighters) were directly tortured and killed by their enemies. That is why I give it 4 stars.
