Everyone in law school should read this book. Too many attorneys these days lack a considerable amount of these skills. Teaches practical approaches to real-world case issues that can't simply be solved with black letter law.
Well laid out guide to basic lawyering skills but could use a bit more depth as to the upsides and downsides of using certain styles or methods. The negotiation section could also benefit from providing more strategies and styles employed by lawyers.
Great informational book.
It is extremely important to read this book before endeavoring law school. I have been preparing my law skills for almost a year. I have been reading: civil law, criminal law, torts, contacts, and constitutional law. However, essential lawyering skills, I recommend, it should be the first bock you read whether you are very much interested in going to law school. It has the essentials for practicing law in a broad and specific range.
Just a basis law school ethics book. Not practical and tends to condescend on every page.
The book might help for some BS class, but in the real world, I wouldn't bother with it. Just go ask/observe an experienced attorney how to handle the situations.
